The largest island question should have read..."What is the world's largest island that is not considered a continent?"

Adele Cosgrove-Bray (author) from Wirral, Cheshire, England. on April 28, 2020:

Thanks, Jan; I hope your and your family enjoy my series of quizzes.

Some of the questions have generated a fair amount of debate, as the answers vary depending on which source of information is referred to.

Jan Kretschmann on April 27, 2020:

Thanks for these trivia questions Adele. They will be very useful for our family video get-togethers in this time of COVID isolation.

I notice you answer Greenland as biggest Island. I had been taught in geography that Australia was the biggest Island but the smallest continent and most Australians see themselves as living on an Island. I read down the comments and some have said it can't be both. So I googled and it seems: "According to Britannica, an island is a mass of land that is both "entirely surrounded by water" and also "smaller than a continent." By that definition, Australia can't be an island because it's already a continent. ... Unfortunately, there isn't a strict scientific definition of a continent."

I am definitely including this Question in my next family video conference quiz just to engage some discussion - and no one is likely to get it right (ha ha).

Lots of discussion as to the longest river. My understanding is that from starting point to finish point measured in a straight lineit is the Nile.....but because the Amazon weaves left and right a lot, in total length the Amazon is the longest...

Adele Cosgrove-Bray (author) from Wirral, Cheshire, England. on February 20, 2020:

Apparently, this depends on how a river is measured - as the crow flies or including every twist and turn in the river's route.
